2000 - Charley Pride and Faron Young were announced as the newest inductees into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
1999 - Dolly Parton, Conway Twitty and Johnny Bond were announced as the newest inductees into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
1998 – The USO presented the Country Music Association with the Spirit of Hope Award in recognition of the many country artists who played for the troops.
1998 – Renowned Nashville artist manager Jack McFadden, who managed Buck Owens and Billy Ray Cyrus, died of cancer at 71.
1997 – Alan Jackson became the first artist ever to win Male Vocalist of the Year six times at the TNN/Music City News Country Awards.
1981 - The Oak Ridge Boys were awarded a gold single for "Elvira."
